Some of the best Jamaican food I’ve ever had made by the kindest couple! I recommend everything that Sammy and Malenda cook, especially anything that comes off the smoker behind the restaurant (like their jerk chicken and jerk pork). And the fish. And the beef patties. And the cake. Everything!
One of the best things to happen to Route 209, Love Bird is making incredibly good fried chicken and so many great sides and sandwiches and just bringing a welcome dose of positivity to Accord. I also love the pop-ups they host with visiting chefs like Mavis-Jay and Sicily from Food Plus People and Woldy Reyes from Woldy Kusina.
The couple that run this truck make awesome vegan pizzas, seasonal vegetables and have just incredibly cool vibes. During warmer months they park at the super cool Starlite Motel and they also offer catering. It’s great for a party!
In a beautiful restored barn in High Falls, Ollie’s offers incredible pizza (the grandma pie is so good!), salads, ice cream sandwiches and also some wonderful sandwiches. They have gluten-free and vegan options and great for kids and adults alike.
Not only the largest but also the best Italian sandwiches! They have great cheeses and olives and dried pasta and all of that kind-of stuff, too. It’s close to the train station so I have often timed my train rides around picking up food from Rossi’s.
Some of the best falafel and sabich I’ve ever had! And incredibly kind people. Really love a place that only does a couple of things and does them so well.
Not really a restaurant, but I can’t make a list of food in the Hudson Valley without mentioning Mona Talbott and Kate Arding’s shop. They have the best and most thoughtful collection of cheese, incredible baked goods and prepared foods, and wonderful pantry items like homemade crackers.
My only complaint about Gaskins is that we don’t live closer to it. Wonderful food and drinks and always a good mix of comforting and surprising things on their menu.
